Joyeux Quatorze Juillet, peasants. Lots to be angry about as usual, so storm away. Marchons, Citoyens!

Hey, how about those Olympic uniforms that Congress is up in arms about because they were made in China, big deal. What really offends me is the pretentious, richy rich image: ascots, berets, double breasted jackets and white pants. Where are the white gloves? Actually, they kind of look like crew members from the Love Boat.

Is this the new image of the all-American athlete? Maybe those sponsored by corporate advertisers. Gag me with a spoon! Congress is so deaf, dumb, and blind, and apparently tasteless too. What a bunch of useless idiots.

Storm the Bastille!

Bastille day?

Woody Guthrie would have celebrated his 100th birthday today.

“Maybe, just maybe, the news that Guthrie, once a pariah in his home state, has become a local hero is the harbinger of things to come, and that all the people who still believe this land is our land will begin to take it back.”

I’ve been too busy in recent months working on biology-related matters to comment (or often, to even read the posts and comments) here at Sardonicky, but I recently received in my inbox an unsolicited job announcement that I thought I’d share. Not that I or anyone visiting this site (with the possible exception of NSA surveillance flunkies) is likely to seek employment with Taser International! Ironic that they are doing this project, as I have long advocated a tamper-proof archive to store a record of law enforcement actions as a means of preventing abuse of police power. Somehow, though, I strongly doubt that the same company that aids law enforcement in bringing “personal electrification” to the masses is the least bit interested in protecting civil liberties or storing evidence of abuse of police power!

“Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.” - Victor Hugo

Bill Moyers provides a short list of 21 songs, as Tom Morello says, “to steel the backbone of people on the front lines of social justice struggles, and to put wind in sails of those struggles.”

For me, it has been a long journey since:

“Well c’mon on Wall Street don’t be slow
why this is war a-go-go there’s plenty good money to be made
by supplin’ the Army with the tools of the trade…
be the first one on your block to have your boy come home in a box and it’s 1, 2, 3, what’re we fighting for?
don’t ask me, I don’t give a damn.”

Jill Stein has locked up the Green Party nomination for President and many of the national newspapers are actually covering it, much to my surprise. It must be the novelty of her being a doctor and woman, and the fact that she is the first to qualify for federal matching funds. Unfortunately, the Green Party has still not qualified to appear on the ballot in half the states.

Now if only she were allowed to participate in the televised national debates, then she could REALLY make progress. The Duopoly will never allow that though. What a sad state of affairs for a so-called Democracy.

Haven't heard anything lately about Rocky Anderson.
